Fighter Jet

Today I have been working with After Effects and Maya to create my Jet fly over scene. Basically for my first shot the camera pans form the cliff face covered in graffiti to a Jet fighter flying over at high speeds, bombing the radio towers across form the set as it pases.

I have created my Fightet Jet model in Maya and applied a grey/black ramp shader. i havent created a high detailed mesh, as my Jet is going to be flying over extremely fast and only the distinctive outline is required.

So after modeling my Jet, I used keyframes to animate the Jet flying overhead with the camera below, following the Jet as it moves. I created a particle emitter to discharge particles out of the jet Engines as it moves. I applied a ramp shader to the particles and adjusted the output details and lifespan to replicate the exhaust fumes of a engine.

I had my original footage running while animating my scene to use as reference. After rendering my scene out as a Targa Image Sequence and importing it into AfterEffects i managed to render out a Test Movie. Im quite happy with movement of the Jet but the motion path of the Jet is not entirely orientated to that of the original footage. So further work will have to be taken with the animation sequence.
